This is personal and boring

Monday, July 31

My real-life homegirl gunstreetgirl has an amazing post about weight issues on her opendiary site. (I tried to link to the MySpace version despite my ambivalent relationship with that website: I hate it and yet I spend far too much time on it because everyone I know has congregated there... no less than three times this week I exchanged MySpace info with new acquaintances intead of email addresses or phone numbers. Alas, gunstreetgirl's blog there is set to "private"). But back to the real subject of this post. Read all the way to the end, because the girl can write:

In the Garden of Eden it's said that Eve brough sin into the world by her curiosity for knowledge. Years later, enter the cliche of woman being beautiful and dumb. Are we trying to recover our innate mistake? Would we give back the knowledge if it meant an existance as simple, soft and subserviant creatures lacking the ribs to stand on our own?

Saturday, July 29

A while back, I wrote a post about anti-Semitism in The Passion Of The Christ. (A less thoughtful, funnier post can be found here. It appears as though Mel has finally decided to wear his feelings about Jews on his sleeve.

Yeah. I'm totally surprised.

It's alive! ALIVE!

More or less, anyway.

I know I keep threatening to update this thing, and I really plan to do so. Soon. I think I just needed an extended period of time away from this project... I've been scribbling here for four years now (has it been that long?), and wanted a vacation. In many ways, the hiatus couldn't have come at a worse time, as I had picked up a lot of traffic as a result of a March post being linked from some heavy-hitter sites (Pandagon, Feministe, Creek Running North, and I think I'm failing to mention others). But the creative mind often works at its own inscrutable pace, and I had too many real-world things on which I had to concentrate.

The fourth anniversary of the bone's inception was July 21, and I completely missed it. Oops.

I'll start writing in earnest again in August. I mean it this time.
